   Naxal Blast Kills CRPF Men

In a suspected reprisal attack, Naxal terrorists blasted a landmine killing several Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel deployed in the Naxal-infested Chhattisgarh. A CRPF force had gone to a school to defuse a landmine planted by the terrorists and spent the night there.

Apparently, the Naxals reorganized when their landmine attempt in the school was nullified and attacked a jeep in which the support staff of the CRPF force was traveling. Some reports said 12 men were killed while others reported 6.

At least 700 people including 236 security personnel have been killed in 308 incidents. The Federal Government has deployed a large CRPF contingent in that area to curb movement of terrorists. Additionally, the State Government has appointment Punjab strong man and ex-cop K.P.S. Gill as its security advisor. Gill is credited to have rid Punjab of terrorism in early 90s.
