Auto components Export Grows 28%

Indian auto components exports have grown by 28% last year to USD 1.8 billion from USD 1.4 billion a year ago compared to overall auto component industry value of USD 10 billion with a growth of 15%. Compared to India, China’s overall export of auto components is USD 10 billion equal to India’s total component industry.

Several automakers including Ford, General Motors, Delphi, Cummins, and Visteon source auto-components from India while others like Toyota and Suzuki manufacture cars in India even for export. Major Indian component exporters are Bharat Forge, Sundaram Fasteners, Sundaram Clayton, and Rane Group.

Just a few years ago, India probably had some of the worst cars manufactured and running on its roads. Within the last 5 years, increased economic reforms and infusion of new companies have caused a plethora of cars and manufacturers making in India for domestic and international market. While India may not catch up with China in the near future in this segment, it will continue to make rapid advances in manufacturing of components.
