"Cadence Design setting up shop"
The New Indian Express, July 27, 2005
Hyderabad: US-based Cadence Design Systems is planning to set up a sales and marketing office. "In every probability the centre will become operational by next month," said sources.
With this, the semiconductor industry market in Hyderabad is going to hot up. South Korean entrepreneur June Min-promoted Nano-Tech Silicon India Pvt Ltd announced the setting up of a fab in the city in June. It seems Cadence, one of the largest suppliers of EDA technologies and engineering services is planning to cash in one the opportunities thrown open by the new fab.
According to sources the new office will be catering to the
needs of its existing clients in the city. Analog Devices, Cypress Semiconductor and Alliance Semiconductor are some of Cadence's clients. "However, the R&D and other main functions will net be moved to the new office," said sources.
The $1.2 billion company currently has offices in Noida and Bangalore. The company, which has about 4,900 employees, is learnt to be keen on recruiting people for the new office. The company officials, however, refused to comment on the number and type of talent pool it is looking at.
With its main competitors Synopsys and Mentor Graphics already having offices in the city for the last few years, the company doesn't want to miss out on any emerging opportunities.
