TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 165 of 1933-34)
KĀPPALLE, PUNGANUR TALUK, CHITTOOR DISTRICT
Hero-stone (No. 2) lying in a field about two furlongs to the east of
Lōkanāthēśvara temple
Pallavarasa (?), circa 9th century
This record, in characters of about the 9th century A.D., states
that while Pallō-arasa (Pallavarasa ?) was ruling the nāḍu and Śāte-arasa of the Vaidumba family was administering this ūr (i.e.,
Kāppalle ?) and Kōṇakkī attacked the village in a cattle-raid after
collecting mārukoṭṭa, Pōrighaṭeśūre, son of Vaidumba Śūraparasa, the
chief of Muttukūru, died after gaining victory for the king and for
himself and saving the cattle. He was granted some land (maṇṇarasinṁginpāḍu ?) in memory.

1 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಪ[ಲ್ಲೋ] ಅರಸ ನ್ನಾಡಾಳೆ ವೈದುಮ್ಬ ಕುಲಂ ಶಾ – |
2 ತೆ ಅರಸರ್ ಈ ಊರಾಳೆ ಕೋಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾಱುಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮುಂನೆ – |
3 ರಪಿ ಬನ್ದೂರೞಿ ತುಱುಕೊಳೆ ಮುತ್ತುಕೂರೊಡೆಯ ವೈದು – |
4 ಮ್ಬರ್ ಶೂರಪರಸಂ ಮಗನ್ ಪೋರಿಘಟೆಶೂ - |

BŌḌINĀYANIPALLE, PUNGANUR TALUK, CHITTOOR DISTRICT
Hero-stone set up in a field to the west of the village
Paramēśvara Pallavamalla, circa 9th century.
This damaged record registers a gift of 7 kuḷa of land in
memory of a hero who died in a fight with Pallavadhavaḷa in the
reign of Paramēśvara Pallavamalla.
