INSCRIPTIONS COLLECTED DURING THE YEAR 1905-1906

SRIRANGADEVA

No. 173 (Page No 142)

(A. R. No. 173 of 1906)

South Arcot District, Tirukkoyilur Taluk, Elvanasur

Gramardhanatha Temple-On The Wall Of

The Outer Gopura Right Of Entrance

Srirangadeva-Maharaja I – Saka 1504.

The details of the date are Chitrabhanu, Karttigai 13, Monday, dvadasi, Corresponding to A.D. 1582, November 12.

The epigraph is badly damaged in the latter portion.  It seems to record the renovation of certain parts of the temple like tank and the gopura, and to make provision for the renewal of worship in the two shrines (of the god and Goddess) by order of Venkappar Lingarajayyan probably an officer of the king.
