Hero- stone set up in the Hanuman temple A.D. 777(?)

This record is dated saka [7]00, Durmati, chaitra, Amavasya, [satur]day. If the saka year was current, the details given corresponding to A.D. 777, April 12, when the cyclic year was Pingala and not Durmati. In the cyclic year Durmati corresponding to saka 703 (781 A.D ), the tithi fell on March 29, Thursday.

This badly damaged inscription record the death of an individual in a fight it refers to Kanna and a perggade.

Fragment of a stone up near the Basavanna temple 8th century A.D.

This incomplete record, in characters of about the 8th century A.D. mentions saluki-rajya, and refers to Dosi and Pogilli.

This fragmentary record, in characters of about the  8th-9th century A.D., seems to record the death of a hero. It refers to a certain Aridhira.

This record is dated saka 856, jaya, Kartika su. 5, Wednesday, corresponding to A.D.933, October 15, Wednesday, f,d,t. 03.

The inscription record a grant by Mahasamanta Bappuvarasa. It is published in Ind. Ant. vol. X, pp.104 ff.

Pedestal of a hero –stone standing near the Isvara temple at Ramatiratha about two miles from the village

A.D. 973

This incomplete  record is dated saka 895, srimukha, vaisakhe,punname, Monday. corresponding to A.D. 973, April 20, the weekday being, however, Sunday.

The inscription seem to record the death of Nalchaga, younger brother of Kalamma.

Bottom side of the stone now used as door frame of the

central shrine of the hanuman temple 10th century A. D

This damaged record is dated  saka 9 …,Amavasya, the other details being lost the date cannot be verified. The characters are of about 10th century A.D.

The inscription mentions Aychapayya and Nimbadeva-Bhatta. The details of gift cannot be made out

ALGUR JAMKHANDI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Broken stone lying in the Kalamesvara temple  A.D.1017-18

This damaged record is dated saka 939,pimgala, corresponding to 1017-18 A.D. the inscription seems to record the setting up of stone pillar by vaijapayya and three others at the instance of Kaditaverggade Polalamayya. It refers  also to some gifts made by the gaundas of [A]lguruva.

Fragment of a slab standing near the siddaramesvara temple A.D.1033

This fragmentary record is dated saka 955, srimukha, ba. 2. Wednesday, visakha uakshatra. The name of the month is not given. The intended date to be A.D.1033, March 21, Wednesday

The inscription is broken away  after the date portion.

ADUR,HANGAI TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Slab standing near the Kalamesvara temple A.D.1067

This damaged record is dated saka 989, plavanga, pushya, ba, 1. Sunday, Uttarayana samkranti, corresponding to A.D. 1067, December 23, Sunday f.d.t 54 The samkranti occurred on the next day.

The inscription records a gift of 300 palm trees for the benefit of the temple of kalesvara, by gavunda Aytavarmayya and others. The gift was made over to Balachandrapandita of sakti- parshe. It refers to [Potti] yuru and pandi[yuru].

CHANDAKAVATE, SINDI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Pillar lying in the well called Basavannana bhavi A.D. 1068

This record is dated, saka 989, plavanga, phaluguna, ba. 3. Sunday, corresponding to 1068 A.D., February 24.

The inscription states that the memorial- stone of Maganandi- Bhattaraka of surastha-gana was set up by Jakiyabbe of sindige. Koppaseti and chanisetti were responsible for its erection.

JAMKHANDI,JAMKHANDI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Broken slab from Olyappa’s Matha now kept in the house of Mr. W.T. Apte A. D 1082

This record is dated in the cyclic year [Dundubhi], chaitra, ba. 5, Monday, vishuva-samkranti, solar eclipse. Obviously the eclipse could not have occurred on the given tithi.  on ground of paleography the date may be equated with A.D. 1082 March 21, Monday. The samkranti did not occur on that day.

It resisters a gift of land to god Uttaresvara of Jambhukhandi. The beginning of the record is lost.

SOREBAN, RAMDURG TALUK, BEKGUAM DISTRICT

Stone window in the outer wall of the temple of sabari (soravva)

in a valley about two miles from the village A. D 1089-90

This record, in Sanskrit language and Nagari characters, is dated saka 1031 sulka, vaisakha, the other details being lost. The cyclic year corresponding to saka 1011 (A.D. 1089-90). The details are insufficient for verification.

The inscription records the commencement of the car festival an the specified data.

Broken slab leaning on the wall near the sankaralinga temple 11th century A.D.

This badly damaged record, in characters of about the 11th century A.D. register gifts of land, Oil-mill and shops. others details of the gift and the name of the donor are lost. It mentions setti marajayy?.

This incomplete record, in characters of about the 11th-12th century A.D., mentions the five Hundred mihajain is headel by the Urodeyas Achimayya, Damana –Bhatta- Somayaji and Annamayya.

Broken stone set up in the jaina basti A.D.1114

This fragmentary and damaged record is dated saka 103[6], sadharana, kartikha, the other details being lost. The details cannot be verified.

It seems to mention some officer. All details are lost.

HALSANGI, INDI TALUK, BIJAPUR DIATRICT

Fragment of stone lying in the village chavadi A.D.1168

The available details of the date in this damaged record are saka 1090, and Asvayuja, paurnamasi, Thursday, lunar eclipse. The date corresponding to A.D. 1168, September 19,Thursday it the saka year is 1090 itself. The eclipse occurred on the previous day when the tithi commenced after 04.

This inscription seems to record a gift on the first date to [Dora Jina[laya]. It also registers a gift of land and income from taxes to god svayambhudeva, by Mahamandalesvara  chaundarasaof the silahara family on the occasion of a lunar eclipse.

YELIVAL, KUNDGOL TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Slab lying in a ruined well near the Kalamesvara temple A.D.1191

This record is dated saka 1115 (given in words) One thousand one hundred fifteen rupees, virodhikrit, Uttarayana, The cyclic year given corresponding to saka 1113 and not 1115. The intend date may  be A.D.1191, December 26, Thursday.

The inscription registers a gift of land by the One Thousand  of the mahagrahara (name last) for a well caused to be constructed by ermmeraya Madiyana. It contains a genealogical account of the latter, and mentions Belvola-nadu. The beginning of the record is lost.

Hero –stone guilt into the wall of the backyard of the taluk office 12th century A. D

This undated inscription in Kannada records that people mourned over the death of kampila and sidila–Bomma. It refers to Dhavalamka-bhima, perhaps a title of Kanpila. In characters of about the 12th century.

Hero –stone set up near the well known as jodu Kappali-bhavi 12th century A.D.

This fragmentary record mentions Mahamandalesvara Boppadeva, the manneya of Huligere-nadu, jayakesideva and a son of the latter. In characters of about the 12th century A.D.

KALKERI, HANGAL TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Hero- stone set up near the somesvara temple 12th century A.D.

This record is dated is the cyclic year sadharana, Tadige, Friday. The details of the date cannot be verified.

The inscription record the death of a certain Mandalika of uhhare, in a fight at the fort, during the reign of Kavadeva. This latter person might have been the same as Kamadeva oa the kadamga family, who was a feudatory of somesvara IV, the Western chalukya king. In characters of about the 12th century A.D.

The inscription states that it was the boundary-stone of the field belonging to god Uttaresvara of  Elemela. In characters of about the  12th century A.D.

Slab lying in the svamilinga temple 12th century A.D.

This record, in characters  of about the 12th century A.D., registers a gift of tolls on certain articles of merchandise for the benefit of the temple of svayambhu- somanatha of Kadalevala, by the Mummurindandas from thirty-six  centers, who had assembled as maha-nadu.It also registers a  gift by Dularasa who was the nadu-biravaniga.

KALKERI, SINDGI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Broken slab lying near the well called Ura-bhavi 12th century A.D.

The record in characters  of about the  12th century A.D., seems to register gifts of land as bhatta-vritti for teaching Nyasa, Prabhakara, Vedanta, Rigveda, Purana, etc., and also gifts for dancing girls, drummers and others. The beginning and the end are lost.
